For the second time, Businessweek.com has ranked the 100 largest US cities, and Seattle came in #2. (Just behind San Francisco, ranked #1). Bloomberg Rankings helped Businessweek.com come up with the numbers, based on leisure attributes (the number of restaurants, bars, libraries, museums, professional sports teams, and park acres by population); educational attributes (public school performance, the number of colleges, and graduate degree holders), economic factors (2011 income and June and July 2012 unemployment), crime, and air quality, according to Businessweek.com. Major professional league and minor league teams, as well as U.S.-based teams belonging to international leagues in that city were included.
Of Seattle, Businessweek.com says, “Residents of Rain City will take the city’s famously prodigious rainfall in exchange for their high average median income, beautiful water-bound locale, and standout clean air. Microsoft (MSFT) and Boeing (BA) provide tens of thousands of jobs to the area, for those who can’t toss fish at the Pike Place Market.”
